Alf Johan Knag

Alf Johan Knag is Head of SANDS’ Construction, Infrastructure and PPP teams. He is ranked in both Legal 500 and Chambers & Partners as an expert within Construction law.

Alf Johan is a specialist in contract law for the construction business and represents several of the industry’s most important parties. He assists his clients with risk analysis, project planning, preparation of construction models and contracts. He also advises throughout the projecting and implementation phases, and assists during final settlements, as well as with arbitration and mediation, and procedure before the Courts. Alf Johan is also experienced within property development, purchase/sale, planning and construction law, contact with public authorities, and political decision processes. He has long and extensive experience as a litigator within his areas of expertise.

Alf Johan has extensive experience as a course leader and lecturer for the construction industry. For many years, he has been responsible for several annual courses on Norwegian standard agreements and contractual models for trade organizations and others. He also developed SANDS’ Project Management School, intended for leaders within the construction industry. He also participated in the establishment of the Constructor’s Association in Bergen, and was the leader of the Association during its first 10 years.

Alf Johan is a lecturer at the Center for Continuing Legal Education’s mandatory Bar Exam courses on the topics “Procedural technique in civil cases” and “Examination of parties and witnesses”. He also holds specialist courses on procedural techniques and rhetoric on a regular basis.

Alf Johan has previously worked at DLA Piper and Oslo Municipality. He is certified as a mediator by the Norwegian Bar Association and has been appointed to the fixed arbitration committees of Gulating Court of Appeal and the District Courts of Bergen and Sunnhordland.
