Yonos Strøm Sønmez

Yonos Strøm Sønmez is a senior associate in the IPT department at SANDS. He works with the full spectrum of intellectual property rights, with a particular emphasis on trademark law, IP-related agreements, and the interface with marketing law. Yonos handles international trademark portfolios, provides strategic advice on brand launches and rebranding, and assists with the enforcement of trademark rights in opposition proceedings, administrative review, and litigation.

He also possesses expertise in contract law, focusing particularly on the establishment of commercial collaborations (including distribution and franchise agreements), as well as the transfer and licensing of intellectual property rights. He regularly assists with negotiating and drafting bilateral and multilateral research and development agreements, including consortium agreements.

Yonos completed his Master of Laws at the University of Oslo, where he wrote his thesis entitled “Trademarks with the Same Meaning in Different Languages.” As part of his studies, he spent a semester at Esade Law School in Barcelona on an exchange program. Prior to studying law, he pursued one year of psychology at the University of Bergen.
